Twelve local government units (LGUs) in (Western) Samar are set to benefit from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 8’s implementation of Project Local Adaptation to Water Access (LAWA) and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished (BINHI).

Among these municipalities are Basey, Calbayog, Calbiga, Catbalogan, Gandara, Jiabong, Matuguinao, Motiong, Paranas, San Jorge, San Jose de Buan, and Sta. Rita. Currently, Catbalogan, Gandara, San Jorge, and Matuguinao have completed their orientation and may begin their respective sub-projects. The remaining LGUs will undergo their orientation sessions soon, followed by the actual work.

Meanwhile, some partner beneficiaries from selected LGUs in the provinces of Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Southern Leyte are about to complete their work and are set to receive their salaries for the work they have rendered. This project is one of the agency’s initiatives to address water insufficiency and food insecurity in vulnerable areas of the country.
