The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII recently conducted a site visit and monitoring of Project BINHI in Brgy. Poblacion I, Maslog, Eastern Samar.

The 7,500-square-meter project site, cultivated by 33 partner-beneficiaries, focuses on peanut farming due to the crop’s environmental and economic benefits. Peanuts are considered a “zero-waste” plant, with every part, from the roots to the hulls, fully utilized. The crop is also highly water-efficient and enriches the soil by producing nitrogen, making it ideal for sustainable farming.

The project is expected to provide long-term sustainability for the community, supporting both environmental health and the livelihoods of the partner-beneficiaries.
