DSWD Field Office 8 recently conducted a two-day First-Aid Training for the staff and residents of the Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs).
Staff and residents from the CRCFs actively participated in the said training , where in-house DSWD nurses taught the participants how to respond to a variety of medical emergencies, including wounds, burns, muscle injuries, soft tissue injuries, bone injuries, and other common health emergencies, such as fainting, diarrhea, nosebleeds, hyperventilation, allergies, seizures, and choking. The participants also practiced how to properly apply the Heimlich maneuver for choking victims, how to dress wounds, and how to properly lift and transport an injured person.
The CRCFs provide shelter and assistance for various clients especially for victims of violence and abuse. These include the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC), for children below six years old, the Home for Girls (HFG), for women from the ages of seven to 17, the Haven for Women, for women 18-59 years old, and the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY).
