This holiday season, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 8 – Eastern Visayas conducted an Information and Advocacy Caravan to the remote barangay of Langit in Alangalang, Leyte.
The caravan is part of the field office’s advocacy project, “𝙋𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜: 𝘽𝙪𝙝𝙖𝙮 𝙖𝙩 𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙠𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙜 𝙀𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣 𝙑𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙨” for Calendar Year 2024. As the first leg of this project, the caravan focused on the DSWD’s programs and services for older persons, emphasizing their rights and privileges as a vulnerable sector.
This advocacy initiative aims to raise awareness and garner support for the department’s various programs and services by bringing them directly to communities in the region’s most remote barangays.
