The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 8 continues to conduct Project LAWA at BINHI consultation and orientation meetings in municipalities across Eastern Visayas to strengthen community resilience against climate change.

On February 17-18, technical staff from the Risk Resiliency Program for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (RRP-CCAM) visited Libagon, Southern Leyte; Sta. Margarita, Samar; Salcedo and Quinapondan, Eastern Samar; and Lope De Vega, Northern Samar to ensure effective implementation of the program. Local chief executives, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers (MSWDO), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers (MDRRMO), and Municipal Agricultural Officers (MAO) participated in the discussions.

Project LAWA at BINHI raises climate change awareness and promotes adaptation strategies. Under its Cash-for-Training/Work (CFT/W) initiative, participants receive training in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, gardening, and water harvesting to enhance community resilience.

In addition to consultations, technical staff conducted site validations for planned projects to ensure that communities receive effective and sustainable climate solutions.
