Over 200 DSWD Registered Social Workers convened for the first-ever Social Workers’ Development Conference in the region at the Leyte Academic Center, Palo, Leyte.
The activity was initiated by the DSWD Field Office 8 through its Association of the DSWD Social Workers Inc. (ADSWI) presided by Division Chief Paula Unay, in celebration of the International Social Work Week anchored on the theme, “Strengthening International Solidarity for enduring Wellbeing.”
During the conference, Atty. Jonalyndie Chua discussed the Orientation on the Magna Carta for Social Workers. Meanwhile, Division Chief Ofelia Pagay delivered a Talk of Experience. Leila Auditor gave a background of ADSWI.
In her speech as the ADSWI President, DC Paula Unay underscored that “this activity reinforces the message that our profession as Social Workers is valued and celebrated. This is a vital affirmation that we, the Social workers, play such a vital role in society.”
Further, as part of promoting well-being of the social workers, the Human Resource Welfare Section installed a Health and Wellness Services area, where the social workers enjoyed free massages, manicure and pedicure, as well as free BP monitoring.
