DSWD Field Office 8 – Eastern Visayas continues distribution of food packs, bottled water to stranded individuals amid San Juanico Bridge travel restrictions

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VIII (DSWD-8) continues to distribute family food packs (FFPs) and bottled water to stranded truck drivers, porters, and other affected travelers in Samar and Leyte, due to travel restrictions enforced following structural concerns on the San Juanico Bridge.

Over 500 FFPs and 17 containers of 6.6-liter bottled water have already been distributed to individuals identified as in need of immediate assistance. Beneficiaries were assessed and profiled using the Family Access Card in Emergencies and Disasters (FACED), which helps determine the level of need for food and water support.

The agency’s Quick Response Team remains activated to ensure continuous coordination with affected Local Government Units (LGUs) and to facilitate timely resource augmentation in the impacted areas.
