The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (DSWD-SLP) is drafting special guidelines to provide livelihood support to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Abuyog, Leyte.
The program aims to build partnerships that promote social protection and justice by offering livelihood opportunities to PDLs.
Dubbed “𝐒𝐋𝐏 𝐏𝐚𝐠-𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐚 𝐊𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐲𝐚,” the project will focus on helping PDLs improve their mental well-being and gain sustainable income, during their time in the penal facility.
The program will be implemented for medium and maximum-security PDLs.
DSWD-SLP plans to use the special guidelines as a model for similar livelihood programs in other prisons and protective facilities nationwide.
