The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII extended humanitarian assistance to the victims of a fire incident that affected eight families in Barangay Rawis, Arteche, Eastern Samar on May 23, 2025.
In response, the DSWD Field Office VIII immediately provided relief assistance amounting to ₱179,097.20, which included 24 family food packs, 8 hygiene kits, 8 sleeping kits, 8 kitchen kits, 8 family kits, and 24 bottles of drinking water. The distribution was done in coordination with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO), and Municipal Action Teams (MATs).
Additionally, through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, the agency provided ₱10,000 in financial aid to each of the eight affected families, amounting to a total of ₱80,000.00.
As the Vice Chair for Response and Early Recovery, DSWD coordinates disaster response efforts, ensuring that the Philippine government’s actions are well-coordinated, adhere to established protocols, and are communicated to the public.
