After the killer super typhoon “Yolanda,” Jean as he is fondly called, became hopeless after their family home at Timex, San Jose district in Tacloban was totally wrecked. He has with him his mother, Brigida, 71, who is asthmatic, and father Marcelo, 73, who is suffering from stroke. He thought there was no way out till the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) offered him and 361 other families to avail of the agency’s non-collateral and interest-free loan dubbed as the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). He got his Php10,000.00 capital assistance in an awarding ceremony held recently at the Tacloban City Convention Center. Arturo Golong says it’s a big help, and even he was relocated to a farther barangay in the northern part of Tacloban, he is confident that good things are coming his way. The help he got will go to the furtherance of his little endeavor he enjoys as “hairdresser,” as he calls himself. His home service brings him to the nearby town of Babatngon and to housing subdivisions of the affluent in the city. Carry on, Jean !
