“Ang tubig ay para sa lahat, lalo na sa mahihirap.”
Mano Pomping Dacanay, 71, believes that every single drop of water is for everyone, especially the poor. This is the main reason why he and the community folks of Brgy. New Minarog, Motiong, Samar decided to choose the Construction of Level-II Gravity Fed Water Supply System worth
Php 480,963.52 as their sub-project under Kalahi-CIDSS with funding from Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
Today, the 2,180 lm. pipeline water system with 6 tap stands is now serving 76 households with more than 400 population. The New Minarog Water and Sanitation Association (New MIWASA) headed by the group of Mano Pomping was organized to keep the sustainability of the said sub-project. They also develop policies for the project’s operations and maintenance.
Through Kalahi-CIDSS and MCC’s Barangay Water and Sanitation Association (BAWASA) training, volunteers like Mano Pomping are trained to organize and manage their association. Basic planning and monitoring and bookkeeping with fiscal management were also discussed to community members with the common goal to empower them.
“Nagpapasalamat kami sa Kalahi-CIDSS at sa MCC at natupad din ang aming pangarap magka-tubig”, Mano Pomping thankfully said.
