In making the rounds of Region Eight, specifically Samar, DSWD Assistant Secretary Javier Jimenez (the Department’s official spokesperson) early this week called on the people to support the Listahanan, saying, “huwag niyong takbuhan ang nag-susurvey !” (Do not run away away from those who are doing the enumeration!) The project makes available to all social protection stakeholders, a comprehensive socio-economic database of poor households to serve as their basis for selecting beneficiaries of their programs and services. “Give the right information,” he further emphasized. The official announced over Samar radio stations and in a press conference organized by the DSWD Field Office VIII that for the region, there area total of 719, 273 families being assessed and for updating of the Listahanan, which assessment is done every four years. As of press time, there are a total of 479, 251 households assessed regionwide. “Dito hinuhugot ang pagpili ng Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries,” (this is the basis or source from where the Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries are taken), he said. Jimenez was primarily in the region to campaign against local elective officials who are riding on the popularity of Pantawid Pamilya, now that election is coming near. Importantly, he wanted to tell program beneficiaries not to be afraid of politicians threatening them they will be delisted if they won’t vote for them.”Ang Pantawid Pamilya ay galing sa kaban ng gobyerno!,” (The Pantawid Pamilya comes from the funds of government), the Assistant Secretary pointed out.
