IPI bunkhouse residents have started loading their belongings at seven o’clock this morning into moving trucks and multicabs which would bring them and their things to their new and permanent homes at Ridgeview Park 1, located at the northern part of the city

Food packs, which are part of DSWD’s commitment for this specific activity (IDP transfer/ relocation) were made ready for the bunkhouse residents moving to Ridgeview Park 1.  These packs, specifically called Pabaon packs consisted of one sack of (25kls.) rice, one plastic mat, one mosquito net, one blanket and one cooking pot.

DSWD PDOs Jose Dabuet, Juel Ramos and Joseph de la Pena assisted the moving residents, together with some representatives of the National Housing Authority (NHA) and City Housing offices.

Says PDO Dabuet, “This will be the start of the three-week long movement for the final transfer of all families in the three bunkhouses (IPI, Abucay and NHA) in this sequence.  Saturdays will be included in our transfers.  Please pray for the success of this endeavor so that our brethren IDPs will be finally resettled in “build back better” shelters and can get back to normal lives.”

Tacloban City LGU hasprovided one cargo truck, one canter and one multicab and another cargo truck from Vice Mayor Sambo.  DSWD provides the fuel supply for all city vehicles except for Vice Mayor Sambo’s truck, the gas expense of which, is personally shouldered by the vice mayor himself.

By April 18, it is expected that all the residents of all three bunkhouses would have transferred into their new and permanent homes.###
