
Some 1,356 of the total 1,373 identified families of Lavezares, a town in Northern Samar, have already received their cash grants under the Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) for Typhoon Ruby victims of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The remaining number represents those who have not claimed as of to date.
Lavazares Municipal Mayor Quintin Saludaga was present during one of the pay – outs, which started on May 25 and ended May 28, all of this year. He told beneficiaries to use the money wisely and to repair their houses.
DSWD FO VIII paid out thirty thousand (P30, 000.00) pesos to families whose houses were totally damaged, and ten thousand (P10, 000.00) pesos for those whose dwellings were partially damaged by typhoon Ruby.

Social Welfare and Development Office, with its head, Mesalina Dulfo in attendance. Dulfo clarified that the pay-out was delayed due to the election ban.
