Secretary Corazon ‘Dinky’ Juliano-Soliman of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will join the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australian DFAT) Deputy Secretary, Ewen Mc Donald for a groundbreaking ceremony cum project launch to be held at exactly 10:30 am tomorrow, July 2, 2014 in Alangalang, Leyte.

The Australian government recently provided the DSWD, thru the Kalahi-CIDSS National Community Driven Development Program (KC-NCDDP), a grant equivalent to 12 million Australian dollars. The said grant shall be used for the construction of day care centers and school buildings by way of the Kalahi-CIDSS NCDDP Community Driven Development approach which will involve the community folks.

 Part of the grant will be utilized for the building of a three-classroom building at M. Causus Elementary School, where the program and the symbolic lowering of capsule will be held at the same school in Brgy. Salvacion, Alangalang, Leyte.

Leyte Governor Dominic Petilla, DSWD Regional Director Nestor Ramos, Alangalang  Mayor Loreto Yu, will also be present on said event together with  local  officials and representatives from DepEd, DPWH, OPARR, as well as community volunteers.

The DSWD Field Office Eight is inviting press people to witness the event. Those interested may come to the office at six o’clock in the morning.
