When Vangie (center) volunteered to be a Kalahi-CIDSS’ Barangay Sub-Project Management Committee member, she did not think of herself or the incentive that she might personally get from the project. With the construction of Kalahi-CIDSS’ Day Care Center under the Australian Government  grant, Evangeline Timtiman is helping the project not just for her own daughter but for the children she serves everyday.
As a Day Care Worker of Barangay Pawa in Burauen, Leyte, the pain and exhaustion she experienced as a construction laborer is nothing compared to the dreams that will be built by the innocent children because of the said child care facility. “Para ini ha akon anak ngan ha mga bata ug ira pag-eskwela [This is for my daughter and for the children’s education]”.
Said Day Care Center is a Kalahi-CIDSS sub-project with funding from the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade which is being implemented by community members themselves who are mostly women, duties which were believed and practiced to be male dominated. With a grant summing to PHP 883, 399.00, 82 households of  said barangay will no longer worry for the welfare of their children’s early education.
