A low pressure area is estimated to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this coming December 30,2017. This is expected to bring rain showers and cloudy skies in Eastern Visayas. Heavy rainfall is also expected on December 31.

DSWD has already made preparations for this weather disturbance, despite the holiday season. Teams are monitoring the weather system and are advised to closely coordinate with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers (MSWDO). Disaster Response Assistance and Management Unit (DReAMU) staff and Quick Response Teams (QRT) have already been alerted; they will be rendering consecutive half-day duty from December 31 to January 1.

Aside from this, staff manning the warehouse have also been alerted to ensure the readiness of dispatching food and non-food items. As of December 27, the warehouse has a stockpile of 16,489 family food packs, 66 sacks of NFA rice at 50 kilos, 39 packs of NFA rice at 6 kilos, 279,254 tins of beef loaf, 237,658 tins of corned beef, 1,038 500ml bottled water, 150 355ml bottled water, 25,767 blankets, 968 mosquito nets, 31,844 malongs and 9,390 hygiene kits.
