DSWD recently conducted a meeting for its Core Group of Specialists (CGS). This group consists of social welfare and development experts with skills and competencies which have been demonstrated, verified and acknowledged.

The meeting highlighted the need to develop a new set of specialists through a mentoring process. Through this process, DSWD senior staff will be mentoring junior specialists to ensure that they will be well – equipped to tackle their duties.

These mentors specialize in various fields of expertise in different sectors such as family and community, disaster victims, internally – displaced persons and groups, children and youth, older persons, women and PWDs. As mentors, they will be imparting valuable knowledge, wisdom, and experience to the junior specialists.

The seniors will be imparting their skills on SWD (Social Welfare and Development) Policy Development, Program Management, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Technology Development, Direct Service Delivery, Advocacy on Behalf of the Vulnerable Sector, Standards Development and Capability Building.

This mentoring process is done to ensure the continuity of operations and to ensure the DSWD will always have resource persons available in any event. #
