For more than 4,000 residents of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, the arrival of the 5k Presidential Financial Assistance (5kPFA) is a fulfillment of a promise as they receive P5,000 each in cash.
Recently, DSWD staff conducted the payout of the 5kPFA to beneficiaries from 13 barangays in Borongan City. This is in line with DSWD Regional Director Restituto Macuto’s efforts to fast-track the delivery of this aid.
As of July, 23,852 beneficiaries across Region VIII have already received the 5kPFA. DSWD is now planning the schedule of the payouts for the remaining 17,307 beneficiaries. Over-all there are a total of 41,163 eligible beneficiaries across the Region.
The 5kPFA is a financial aid given to the survivors of Super typhoon Yolanda who have not received any government assistance. The eligible beneficiaries were listed by people’s organizations and submitted to DSWD last November 2016. The 5kPFA has a fund of P1,000,000,000 from the Socio-Civics Fund of the Office of the President.
