As of presstime, the 493 displaced families of Dagami after typhoon Ursula struck Leyte province on Dec. 24, 2019, have returned back home except for two families whose houses were totally damaged. Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Jennylind Avila said they had earlier fled to designated evacuation centers. Others went to homes of relatives or friends for safety. Visiting the DSWD’s Regional Resource Operations Center (RROC) day after the typhoon, she reported that the local government has immediately served the said displaced families with food equivalent to Php 197, 880.34. However, Avila bared that as of initial assessment, there are 6,179 families and 30,845 individuals from 65 barangays affected by Ursula. Dagami needed augmentation from DSWD as she then worked out with Kenny Unay, head of thr DSWD”s Disaster Response Management Information System.
