The Department of social Welfare and Development continues to provide relief goods to the families affected by typhoon Ursula in Leyte.

Recently, DSWD conducted relief distributions in Pastrana and Capoocan. During these relief operations, DSWD staff were able to distribute 894 Family Food Packs (FFPs) and 114 sleeping kits to 29 barangays in Pastrana, and 555 FFPs and 26 sleeping kits in 2 coastal barangays in Capoocan.

Since the start of its relief operations last December 25, 2019, DSWD has already distributed 42,883 FFPs and non-food relief items across the Region. DSWD has successfully distributed relief items worth P19,138,821.84 – P2,810,360.00 in Western Samar, P4,617,020.00 in Eastern Samar, P9,654,040.60 in Leyte and 2,057,401.24 in Biliran.

Following the Local Government Code, DSWD will only conduct relief operations when the Local Government Units (LGUs) request for augmentation. As first responders, the LGUs collectively have already distributed aid worth P20,721,444.26.
