The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is one with the Local Government Unit (LGU) in combating COVID-19 crisis.

The DSWD Kalahi field staff are involved in the Municipal Inter-Agency COVID task force in the municipalities like Mapanas in Northern Samar and San Ricardo and Macrohon in Southern Leyte.

According to Kalahi Area Coordinator Julieta Taza, she is assigned in the Deputy Logistic Section of the task force in Mapanas. Series of meetings and planning have been conducted.

She also stated that aside from being involved in the task force operation, the Kalahi staff also play an important role in the data capturing of vulnerable group which will be the basis of the LGU in the prioritization of assistance amidst the recent crisis.

On the other hand, DSWD continues to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable sector through its financial assistance or Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS). To date, Php 624TH have been given to those who seek assistance through the regional office and provincial offices.
