DSWD is now conducting initial relief operations following requests for assistance of six LGUs in Eastern Samar.
As of today, DSWD has successfully distributed a total of 18,395 Family Food Packs (FFPs) in the province – 4,571 in Arteche, 1,500 in Can-avid, 3,324 in Dolores, 7,300 in Oras, and 1,700 in San Policarpo. DSWD also extended non-food relief items in the form of malongs and blankets to Jipapad of same province, in response to said LGU’s need.
Over-all, DSWD was able to distribute relief items worth P10,109,259.38.
Relief operations are still ongoing – both in Eastern and Northern Samar.
During disasters, the LGUs are the first responders. DSWD provides augmentation to these affected LGUs based on the request of the LGUs. DSWD is also reminding everyone that these relief items are not for sale.
