DSWD is working hand-in-hand with the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Eastern Samar for the delivery of relief items to Ambo-affected municipalities in the said province.

During typhoon Ambo, Eastern Samar was one of the provinces which was heavily affected. In order to provide immediate assistance, DSWD and the PLGU strategized that the fastest way to provide relief was to divide the province. Based on this strategy, DSWD provided initital assistance to Arteche, Can-avid, Dolores, Oras and San Policarpo, while the PLGU would provide assistance to Taft, Sulat, Maslog, Jipapad and San Julian.

As of today, DSWD has successfully provided 23,029 Family Food Packs (FFPs) worth P12,374,792.76, as well as 1,000 malongs and 169 blankets to Eastern Samar. Over-all, DSWD has distributed relief goods worth P12,613,773.76 in the province.

These relief goods are part of DSWD’s augmentation to the LGU’s relief efforts, since the LGUs are the first responders. DSWD is also standing by for requests for augmentation from the other affected LGUs.

Relief operations from DSWD, the LGUs and the Provincial Government are still ongoing.
