In the 14 barangays of Anahawan, Southern Leyte province, mothers of 240 Day Care Children united to continue preparing healthy meals for kids even while they are in their respective homes.

Since Day Care sessions were temporarily suspended due to the threat of COVID-19, their resolution was to go on with the feeding to ensure that the program achieves a greater impact in fighting undernutrition and malnutrition.

Mothers also knew that with children eating the right kind of food, it will prevent them from easily getting infected with diseases like COVID – 19.
It only takes initiative and determination from stakeholders like these mothers, who thought of grouping themselves to cook meals and distribute them to the children, right in their own homes.

The DSWD’s Supplemental Feeding Program is being run, closely with the local government units and communities. It is being undertaken normally in Day Care Centers (now called Child Development Centers) for a period of 120 days. Regular weighing is being done to monitor the child’s growth.#
