As part of the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP), DSWD Region VIII recently distributed P3,381,000 to a total 1,127 clients from three municipalities in Samar.

During the two-day simultaneous payouts, DSWD staff from the Crisis Intervention Unit extended Php3,000 financial assistance to each of the total 1,127 indigent clients under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS). Benefitting from the assistance are from Sta. Rita, 369, Basey, 466, and Marabut, 292. Meanwhile, partner agencies also provided food packs and other material assistance, such as bikes and tablets.

The RCSP is an initiative by the government which aims to address the issues and to provide the needs of the communities, thus eliminating the root cause of local armed conflict and insurgency. Using the whole-of-government approach, various agencies, including the Office of the President, DSWD, Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, the Office of Civil Defense, the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and others work together to provide assistance to the communities.
