epartment of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 8 through its Kapit-Bisig Laban Sa Kahirapan (Kalahi-CIDSS) program turned over a two-building COVID facility worth Php 6.1 million in Biliran, Biliran on November 24 to augment efforts of LGU in curbing the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.

Municipal Mayor Grace Casil emphasized in her message that the unity and coordination between community volunteers and LGU made them able to complete the facility in a short span of time. She went on to say that this community-driven program, lets communities construct their own identified project. The Mayor added that “it helps generate temporary job for the community folks, most especially that most of them are unemployed due to the current crisis”.

Further, the newly-constructed isolation facility consists of two separate buildings to house probable and confirmed COVID cases from the town’s 11 barangays. There are also two dedicated rooms for medical front-liners.

Like other community-led COVID 19 isolation and quarantine facilities implemented under the DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS, the one in Biliran is equipped with medical supplies, and amenities such as beds, tables, chairs, electric fans, etc.
