Two hundred displaced workers in Catbalogan City, Samar received financial assistance from DSWD through its program the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) on May 18, 2021.

This is on top of the financial assistance given by DOLE through the TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers.

TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.

Each beneficiary received a total of P5,250.00. Of this amount, P2,000.00 is from DSWD and P3,250.00 is from DOLE that is intended to support the needs of their families amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

DSWD Samar Sub-Field Office Coordinator Ma. Joyce Flora and her AICS team spearheaded the payout.

Present during the activity were DOLE Assistant Secretary Victor Del Rosario, DOLE Samar Provincial Director Fe Norma Valuis, representatives from the Office of the President and City Councilor Michael Tuazon who represented the City Government of Catbalogan on behalf of City Mayor Dexter Uy.
