As part of the agency’s participation in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), DSWD Eastern Visayas recently conducted a simultaneous, region-wide earthquake drill across all its offices.

DSWD employees from various sub-field offices executed the Drop, Cover and Hold method. Using this technique, employees sought cover during a simulated earthquake. Afterwards, the employees also observed proper evacuation protocols – to walk quickly outside the building while protecting the head and neck .

The drill was conducted to boost DSWD employees’ response to earthquakes, especially since the Philippines is prone to earthquakes due to its location inside the Pacific Ring of Fire.

Meanwhile, DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Division continues to prepare for the upcoming third and fourth quarter NSED, as well as this year’s commemoration of the National Disaster Resilience Month, with the theme, “Tamang Pamamahala’t Kahandaan, Kaalaman, at Pagtutulungan, sa Sakuna at Pandemya’y Kalasag ng Bayan.”
