Last September 11, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII awarded a centenarian cash gift amounting to Php 100,000.00 to Lola Andrea, in General MacArthur, Eastern Samar.

DSWD field staff personally delivered the centenarian cash gift to Lola Andrea’s house. Further, Municipal Mayor Flora Ty and OIC Municipal Social Welfare Officer Liezl Ayon also witnessed the awarding activity.

Taking into account the physical and health limitations of the grantees, DSWD provided the cash incentives through house-to-house distribution.

Republic Act (RA) No. 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016 states that all Filipinos, who have reached 100 years old and above, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad shall be honored with a Letter of Felicitation from the President of the Philippines congratulating the celebrant for his/her longevity; and a Centenarian gift in the amount of Php 100,000.
