DSWD Eastern Visayas boosts its stockpiles as production continues. Recently, the agency’s Disaster Response Management Division procured additional raw materials, such as canned goods, coffee and cereal drinks, which will then be packaged into additional Family Food Packs (FFPs).

As of December 1, DSWD has a total stockpile of 15,270 FFPs. 9,576 of these are stored at the agency’s main warehouse at the Regional Resource Operations Section, while the remaining FFPs are prepositioned in different strategic locations across the Region. This includes 3,694 FFPs in Northern Samar, 1,000 in Eastern Samar, and 1,000 in Samar. These stockpiles are expected to increase as production continues this week.

According to the Local Government Code, and Republic Act 10121, the Local Government Units are the first responders to any disasters. As the Food and Non-Food Items Cluster Head of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), DSWD may release these FFPs and other non-food relief items when requested by the LGUs.
