The Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) program was officially launched on 8 May 2024 at SM Center Ormoc City, Leyte.

This initiative is a significant step towards sustainable farming practices in Barangay Cabintan and Camp Downes, Ormoc City, Leyte, benefiting 58 local farmers.

The program is collaborative effort of the SM Foundation, Inc., Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the City Government of Ormoc, and various national government agencies.

Present during the launching activity are representatives from SM Markets, SM Supermalls, DSWD Field Office VIII, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and the City Government of Ormoc led by Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez.

For 14 weeks, from May to August 2024, participants will undergo training sessions, ensuring they can cultivate their crops sustainably using modern farming methods and technologies.

After the training, DSWD FO VIII, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program, will provide seed capital fund to the farmer-beneficiaries.

The seed capital fund is a form of financial assistance, which is intended for the procurement of raw materials, small tools, and common service facilities necessary to establish microenterprise.

Since 2007, the Farmers’ Training Program or the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan of SM Foundation has been empowering marginalized farmers to achieve self-sufficiency through the provision of knowledge in agricultural technology.🌱
