DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS turn overs first ever tertiary school building as a clustered sub-project in Silvino Lubos, Northern Samar
The Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) turned over a two-storey, four-classroom school building at the Genaro Yamamoto Memorial College of Agriculture, Science, and Technology (GYMCAST) as its clustered sub-project located in Brgy. Suba, Silvino Lubos, Northern Samar on 5 October 2024.
This sub-project is the first ever tertiary school building constructed in the municipality as a priority intervention selected by its community members to address the issue on the lack of school facilities in the said municipality through the Community-Driven Development approach of the program.
As highlighted by Jennith S. Lucban, Barangay Development Council-Technical Working Group (BDC-TWG) chairperson, “Itong proyektong ito ang nagbigay sa akin ng halaga na subukan ang aking kakayahan at mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga ordinaryong mamamayan na maging parte sa bawat gawain at implementasyon ng proyekto.”
With Brgy. Genagasan as the lead barangay in the sub-project implementation, this was supported by 22 other barangays composed of Cababayogan, San Antonio, Cabungaan, Geguimitan, Victory, Montalban, Imelda, Gecbo-an, Tobgon, Gebonawan, San Isidro , Balud, Camanggaran, Camaya-an, Deit de Suba, Cagdao, Gusaran, Geparayan de Turag, Deit de Turag, and Poblacion 1, 2 and 3 as a cluster.
The actual sub-project cost is Php 9,692,408.00 with Php 4,023,491.00 grant allocation. The Local Counterpart Contribution (LCC) has amounted to Php 5,667,670.00, more than 50 percent of the total sub-project cost. The MLGU has provided a total of Php 4,872,670.00 in-cash contribution and Php 45,000.00 worth of in-kind contribution while the BLGU has a total of Php 750,000.00 in-cash LCC.
