DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) recently held a meeting at Tolosa to discuss the division’s updates and accomplishments.

The meeting started with the discussion of DRMD’s organizational structure and the specific roles of each section under the division. These sections are the Disaster Response and Rehabilitation Section (DRRS), the Disaster Response Information Management Section (DRIMS) and the Regional Resource Operations Center (RROC). The DRRS’s main function is deployment during disaster operations and rehabilitation projects after disasters; DRIMS focuses on gathering information and reporting; while RROC is in charge of gathering, stockpiling and dispatching relief goods.

DRMD also discussed plans and updates for its projects, including the ongoing payout of the 5kPFA, the implementation of cash-for-work programs for LGUs affected by Typhoon Urduja, the Core Shelter Assistance project, recovery and rehabilitation for the families affected by the Ormoc-Kananga earthquake, prepositioning in several LGUs and other concerns, such the financial status of the Division.

This meeting was held to improve the DRMD’s service, especially during disasters, and to fulfill its goal to lead in the planning, coordination and monitoring of all disaster response efforts, in accordance with Republic Act 10121 (the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010).
