From Mapanas to Jipapad, from Catarman to Bobon, the Department of Social Welfare and Development is always there to help.

During disasters, the first responders are the Local Government Units. And in the case of typhoon Tisoy, the LGUs have distributed assistance worth P7,485,012.44. However, there are times when the LGUs need help. And when they do, they request for augmentation from DSWD. And when DSWD receives those requests, DSWD immediately responds.

Ever since Tisoy made landfall during the first week of December, DSWD has never been idle. In fact, DSWD started its relief operations on December 3, and has been busy conducting back to back relief operations in the Northern and Eastern Samar area. These are the municipalities which were most heavily affected by Tisoy, and have requested augmentation from DSWD.

As of December 16, DSWD has successfully distributed these relief items. These relief items are based on the requests from the LGUs, and the recommendation of the local Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers.
