“Isang araw maka-aangat din kami sa buhay,” expressed Arnel Sumaylo, 20 years old, from Sitio Matabawan, Cantuhaon, Palompon, Leyte.

Arnel concluded his degree on Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English at Palompon Institute of Technology as Cum Laude last March 20, 2018.

He is one of the around 1,001 Expanded Students Grant-in-Aide Program for Poverty Alleviation (ESGP-PA) grantees in Eastern Visayas who graduated as of April 1, 2018.

138 elderly citizens inside maximum security receive social pension

Yesterday, May 7, 138 elderly citizens confined inside the Maximum Security Compound of the Leyte Regional Prison in Cagbulo, Abuyog, Leyte received their grants on Social Pension from the DSWD Field Office VIII. Validation of poor households for UCT in full swing

t is now three weeks since a team from the DSWD started its validation of poor households in the region. This was disclosed by Carol Gerilla, head of the Planning Unit of the DSWD Field Office VIII during the latest episode of the agency’s “Kasugong ha Pagtindog” radio program over DYVL-AM station, held every Friday, from 9 : 30 a.m. to 10 : 30 a.m.

Kalahi-CIDSS to pilot CDD Thematic implementation in 23 LGUs

The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Kalahi-CIDSS (Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services) program will pilot various Community-Driven Development (CDD) Thematic implementation in twenty-three municipalities in Eastern Visayas, this year.
