Tacloban City, September 30 – A day after the highly – successful Pantawid Pamilya National Family Day, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Eight organized a Family Day for its own employees and their families. The celebration, held yesterday, September 29 at the Leyte Park Resort Hotel this city, was highlighted by a symposium on Gender Sensitivity in Relation to Family Solidarity.

Resource speaker, Marilyn Lim, of a charismatic community in Tacloban, discussed on the differences between a man and a woman. She said men and women were created by God differently, and that we have to accept reality that men and women love differently.

Meanwhile, DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operations, Resty Macuto, who represented Regional Director, Nestor Ramos, told employees and their families during the program to remain solid despite the many challenges the agency has been facing. He related his speech to this year’s theme of National Family Week, “Celebrating the Filipino Family : Resilient and Caring. “

He, then, thanked the families of employees for their utmost understanding in their work.

The event also witnessed the formal farewell party for outgoing Assistant Regional Director for Administration, Virginia Idano, who retired from her post effective September 28. Marlene Kahano, formerly the General Administration Support Services Division chief will act as O.I.C. – Assistant Regional Director for Administration.#
