In the Regional Management Development Conference that started February, 2016 at Sabin Resort Hotel in Ormoc City, O.I.C. Regional Director Restituto Macuto has this to say :

“DSWD Field Office Eight will explore the possibility of having Veterans Bank as service provider for a door-to-door delivery of Social Pension for poor senior citizens in 15 remote/interior municipalities of the region. Initially, it will pilot one municipality. Hopefully, we can start on the second quarter. It is one way of solving delayed liquidations !”

“For eligible senior citizens aged 60 years old and above who were left behind due to political interventions, one can just approach our Social Welfare Officer assigned in the provinces!”

The 15 municipalities are Hernani, Giporlos, Guiuan, Jipapad, Maslog, and San Julian of Eastern Samar province with 2, 265 beneficiaries; Dulag, Tanauan, Tacloban City, La Paz, and Julita, Leyte, 4, 941; Macrohon, Southern Leyte, 580; Hinabangan, Jiabong, Motiong of Samar, 1,870 beneficiaries.

In a new development, the Field Office was now able to engage the services of the Veterans Bank. However, the former is awaiting the funds as payment for the whole – year transaction, involving to more than Php 4 M.#
