TACLOBAN CITY – “Water emanating from the Filtration Tank at Ridgeview Park, Cabalawan, this city, is potable, clean and fit for drinking”, so reports IOM Philippines Program Manager in Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) Conrad Navidad to the viting team headed by DSWD Undersecretary for Operations and Programs Group-Protective Programs (OPG-PP) Vilma Cabrera recently.

The favorable result of the Leyte Metropolitan Water District’s (LMWD) Bacteriological Test for Water result was signed by LMWD’s Registered Medical Technologist Katherine Gonzales, Quality Assurance Officer Rosalinda A. Dumagsa, OIC Division manager for Quality Control Cynthia L. Terrado, all of the same office.

The Filtration Tank project on the provision of potable water at Ridgeview Park 1, Cabalawan utilized USD 300,000 donations from the Nigerian government for Ridgeview Parks 1 & 2, Villa Sofia and Villa Diana. The DSWD tapped the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for the water system establishment at the NHA relocation site.

Said water system consists of the 10 water storage tanks with a capacity of 5,000 liters each. It is an on-site water source development, water filtration and rain harvesting/storage device for typhoon Yolanda-affected families now living in these permanent resettlement areas.  ###
