Jessie Mar Agunos, 32, felt as if winning in a lottery upon hearing the big news. All his hard work paid off in an instance. “I didn’t expect this but I am grateful to have been given this opportunity. I am thankful that I was chosen to take the position,” he expressed.

Last June 16, 2017, in the closing ceremony of the pre-licensing training of security guards Program, Jessie Mar was commended with his exemplary performance such that he was elected as class president of class 05 – 2017.

The DSWD,  through the Sustainable Livelihood Program,  sponsored his 15-day training held at the JVO Security Training Academy.

As a reward for good work, he was chosen by the president/owner of JVO Academy to be assigned as a government security guard in Eastern Visayas State University Tanauan Campus with salary grade five.

“This is the fruit of our labor. Finally, I have a job. I really wanted to work for my children. My eldest is now in her kindergarten that is why I need to start saving for them,” he shared.

He is a father of two who wishes to provide the best for his children and be an inspiration to them.

He graduated Bachelor in Secondary Education, Major in Physical Science in year 2015. While he was studying, he worked as a motorcycle driver in Carigara, Leyte up to the present.

Upon hearing about the training course in their community, he immediately inquired and gets enlisted. He took the chance since his father is a Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiary which helped him get prioritized.

“Although I was working hard as a driver, still it wasn’t enough to sustain our daily needs. I earned my degree but I can’t move forward because I can’t process my credentials due to financial crisis,” he added.

Jessie Mar strived hard to finish the training to get a job and save for his licensure examination. Through this, he can provide the good life he wants for his family.

“I may become a full-fledged teacher in the future but I will bring with me the values and knowledge I’ve learned in this training. I am willing to continue this profession in any way possible,” he said.

In a short message, he encouraged his fellow graduates not to waste the opportunity they have received through DSWD. Instead, “make use of the learnings and apply it at work and in their lives,” he ended.# #DSWDMayMalasakit
