The Department of Social Welfare and Development has released a total of 5,000 family food packs in assistance to the municipality of Biliran in the province of Biliran.

This distribution was carried out from December 19th, when a partial of 2,640 family food packs were delivered, up to December 20th, when the remaining 2,282 packs were released to the local government unit. Additionally, 78 packs were released to the local government unit by chopper.

This relief operation was also made possible with the assistance of the 546th ECB and the 8th FSSU from the Army, who lent four trucks for the transportation of these relief goods.

According to Mayor Grace Casil, this food would be sufficient for now. However, she expressed concern over the next few months, stating that they would have no food, since the landslide washed out most of the farmlands.

Currently, Biliran is still in need of more food, water, medicine, clothes and blankets.
