Recently, a fire broke out at Barangay 01, Poblacion along the National Highway in Lawaan, Eastern Samar.
Based on reports received, the incident affected 12 families (44 individuals estimated). A total of 8 houses were totally damaged, while 4 houses were partially damaged.
As a response, DSWD Field Office VIII provided P5,000.00 food assistance per family through the Assitance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS). Also, the Local Government Unit (LGU) provided malongs, kitchen utensils, half-sacks of rice, canned goods and financial assistance per family.
Over-all, the total cost of assistance provided is P99,821.60
