Kalahi-selected municipalities in Eastern Visayas start pre-implementation activities of Community-Driven Development COVID-19 disaster response implementation, through Disaster Response Operations Procedure (DROP).

Disaster Response Operations Procedure is a way of mitigating the disruptions brought about by COVID-19 health pandemic in the communities. Using DROP, DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS will provide augmentation to the local government units in managing the COVID-19 crisis response through the funding of projects identified by the communities. DROP also aims to institutionalize the Community- Driven Development process in crisis or time of disaster by ensuring that communities are involved in all planning and decision-making activities of local government units.

The Local Government Units and communities plan and decide projects that will help them contain the COVID-19 health pandemic and its effects to the people for example Ligtas COVID center, isolation unit, procurement of medicines, and PPEs, livelihood related program and etc.

The DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS program through Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach complements the efforts of different government agencies to combat the societal impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Eastern Visayas alone, there are 26 municipalities target to implement the CDD disaster response implementation.
