DSWD VIII Regional Director Marie Angela Gopalan told her workforce of 1,674 employees in the region to arm themselves with a healthy lifestyle and to follow the minimum health protocols to protect them from the dreaded COVID-19 disease. At the DSWD Field Office VIII itself, the various sections have set up safety measures for employees.


She recently made this appeal, as the agency continues to deliver services down to the remotest parts of the region. Mass of employees have been mobilized to the field to conduct payouts on Social Pension, Centenarian Cash Gift, Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (Medical, Transportation, and Burial Assistance), and Emergency Subsidy of the Social Amelioration Program.


“Even as the number of COVID cases in the region is increasing, the agency has to remain true to its commitment in serving the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors of society,” the DSWD Regional Director pointed out.


In a memorandum issued by the official, the Director stated – ‘Be calm. Purposively show empathy to our colleagues who may need our support. The Director also emphasized to take care of one’s mental health, encouraging workers to talk with their supervisors.


She designated one of their staff and a registered nurse, Jessica Mae Maceda, as COVID-19 Prevention Medical Staff. #
