Since June 11 of this year, the DSWD Field Office VIII started providing food to Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) from Manila and Cebu who arrived in Tacloban, whether at the airport, seaport or bus terminals, as contribution of the agency to the Balik Probinsiya, Bagong Pag-Asa Program of the national government.

DSWD Crisis Intervention Unit Head, Irene Permejo, disclosed that the agency has given hot meals of cup noodles, as well as biscuits, coffee, and bottled water to 246 LSIs as of to date. There are 12 batches of arrivals already, it was further learned.

She bared that distribution is a concerted effort with the Philippine Army, which is also a member of the COVID-19 regional inter-agency task force.
