The DSWD and local government units continue to work closely with the Department of Health (DOH) in ensuring that minimum health protocols, requirements, and standards are being followed in the implementation of community-identified projects under the Kalahi-CIDSS program. Such projects aim to mitigate the effects caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

DOH, through their Development Management Officers (DMOs), provides technical assistance and guidance to Kalahi-CIDSS implementation through reviewing the project proposals in terms of specifications and standard design of the COVID-19 quarantine/isolation facility and the prescribed personal protective equipment (PPEs), medical tools, and facilities.

The Development Management Officers (DMOs) are DOH representatives who provide technical assistance to local government units and different agencies in implementing health-related or health vertical programs.

One of the Development Management Officers assigned in Eastern Samar who helped evaluate project proposals is Gina Marasigan. She shared, “We are always ready to assist the DSWD and LGUs in ensuring that Kalahi-CIDSS projects follow DOH standards and requirements. We are also willing to help them in any health-related needs that may arise along with the program implementation.”

Moreover, Dr. Verna Fernandez, DMO Team leader of Southern Leyte, was grateful for DSWD through the Kalahi-CIDSS program for it assists the local government units in providing augmentation through funding community-identified projects that will help respond to the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.
