The local government unit of Victoria in Northern Samar, thru Vice-Mayor Arnel Siago, recently expressed appreciation for the support of DSWD, saying “considering the limited fund of our municipality, the fund augmentation from Kalahi-CIDSS program is of great help for us in coping with the effects of pandemic.”

The local official shared that their lead barangays already received the delivery of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), communication devices, and medical tool and amenities for use by the medical frontliners, probable COVID cases, and Locally Stranded Individuals across 16 barangays. These community-identified projects under the Kalahi-CIDSS program will be in the possession of LGU’s quarantine facility.

On the other hand, Vice-Mayor Siago pointed out that more than the fund assistance the Kalahi-CIDSS has provided is the empowering objective of the program.

He continued, “ Kalahi-CIDSS program serves as a re-awakening on the part of LGUs because it lets the government and citizenry dialogue on how both can work together so development can be achieved. Through its participatory process, the needs of the people are addressed. Also, you need to make them [communities] accountable and let them be part of the solutions.”
