Php 3.6-M total cost of medical amenities and sanitation supplies were officially turned over to 20 barangays of Pintuyan in Southern Leyte on October 28 this year.

These will be placed in their respective barangay-funded quarantine facilities.

These are projects identified by community residents under the DSWD’s Kapit-Bisig Laban Sa Kahirapan- Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS).

Municipal Mayor Rustico Estrella thanked DSWD for the continuous support to LGUs to ensure that social services to the poor communities are delivered amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Teresita Briton, one of the village chiefs, shared that through the Kalahi-CIDSS program, the most pressing needs of barangays were addressed. She also emphasized that the strength of the program lies in community participation.

To date, 118 Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) and 12 Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF) have already benefitted from the amenities such as modular tents, folding beds, emergency lights, etc.

Meanwhile, medical apparatus, PPES, and sanitation supplies are now being used by the medical frontliners.
