The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Eastern Visayas, through the Kapit-bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) operating under the Disaster Response Operation Procedure (DROP), allotted PhP 359 Million worth of COVID-19 Community-based response projects to be implemented in 136 towns across the region.

Through DROP, DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS will provide resource augmentation to local government units (LGUs), allowing them to implement COVID-19 response and recovery measures by funding community-identified projects using the Community-Driven Development approach.

Under DROP, LGUs and communities will plan and decide projects that will help them tide over the COVID-19 health pandemic and its effects to the people. These include the construction of Ligtas COVID centers, construction or rehabilitation of isolation and quarantine facilities, procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), and cash for work projects, among others.

Out of 136 towns, 44 will implement projects during the first half of the year while the remaining 92 municipalities will implement projects in the second half of the year. The projects will benefit a total of 76, 875 households.
