“Ang pagbibigay ng pagmamahal at serbisyo ay dapat araw-araw”, DSWD Regional Director Marie Angela Gopalan said in her speech during the Local Serbisyo Caravan conducted on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2021 at Barangay Salvacion, Silago, Southern Leyte.

Gopalan underscored the importance of peace in the communities to allow the continuous delivery of basic services to the people. The DSWD official also expressed her gratitude to the uniformed personnel, being the agency’s strong partners in maintaining peace and order in the conduct of Social Pension as well as SAP and Bayanihan 2 Emergency Subsidy payouts, and in the transport of relief goods even to remotest communities.

She was accompanied by Assistant Regional Director Grace Subong for Operations, who is the incoming Regional Director of DSWD Field Office VIII effective April this year. Director Gopalan will be transferred to Region I.

Medical consultation, tooth extraction, Operation “Tuli”, free haircut, free massage and distribution of hygiene kits were among the services delivered to the residents of Barangay Laguma and Salvacion.

The Retooled Community Support Program (RSCP) known as “Serbisyo Caravan” aims to address identified issues of the community by closing the governance and development gaps, providing the community their needs and putting an end to the insurgency.

The activity is an initiative of the Department of Interior and Local Government in partnership with other National Government Agencies, the Provincial Government of Southern Leyte and the Local Government Unit of Silago.
